Lagersolut 733 #1 Posted June 1 I have two original starters that went bad over the years - one came off the 416 another off a C 121 - both are 10 tooth gears same brush kits - want to get the 416 starter working and back on the tractor other for a spare - everything is pretty straight forward except the copper bushings . Any tricks for getting them out ? They don't seem terrible I may just polish with 800 grit and run them if it's a real bear removing them . Other than the brushes worn, years of caked on crud internally and weak springs on the gear they seem solid .
953 nut 59,184 #2 Posted June 1 If the bushings are bad you can use an awl to fold the bushing inward a bit at which point it will just fall out. This thread from @stevasaurus should be helpful.
