HyperPete 835 #1 Posted May 28 Not a "For Sale" ad - it's a "What's it worth" thread! Once I get my answer, I will post in for sale. I'mm looking at a 4x4 tractor with a more powerful front end loader. If I get it, I am going to sell the '73 16 HP horse with FEL & weight box (box just sandblasted & painted) Seat has a single 2 - 3" tear, taped. It's got a (36"?) deck & mule, and the FEL stands go with it. Recent service includes trans service (Wix filter), oil change, new plug, new choke cable, carb cleaning, and FEL fluid change. I'm taking the new rear AGs & weights off and putting turfs back on. I also have a 2nd frame/body to include. Needs a headlight & a taillight lens. Can anyone ballpark the value for me, and will the big show be a good place to sell it, or a place to get beaten up on price? A couple of additional photos to be added tomorrow.
AlexR 1,742 #2 Posted May 28 I would estimate $1500 would be fair, but man prices on the horses have just been high lately so you could probably get more then that. The main value you have is the loader. I would say that's a $500 tractor with a $1000 loader.
squonk 43,518 #3 Posted May 28 I would say the show is the place to sell it. Guys will be already there with trailers. Otherwise anyone interested will have to factor in the cost and time of driving to get it at a later date 5
PWL216 1,001 #4 Posted May 28 I agree with @AlexR in that the main value is in the loader. I paid $1,200 for just a loader (Thompson), which I have on a 520H. Originally I had the loader on a C121 but the steering with a loaded bucket was awful, so I put in on the 520H. The swept front axle and gear reduction on the 520H was a huge upgrade. Around here, I think you’ve got a $2,000 machine if the hydraulic lines are in good shape - they are expensive to replace. 4
953 nut 59,403 #5 Posted May 28 People at the show will be very interested in a running operating with a FEL. I bought my GT-14 with FEL on over a dozen years ago for $ 1,600 and had to drive 800 miles round trip to pick it up. Take it to the show, it will find a new home. 2

Well, I guess I'll be holding on to it for a LOOONG time!
wallfish 17,905 #7 Posted May 28 Just spit balling here. Loader itself, $1500-$1800 (possibly more to the guy that has to have it) and then add the cost of the tractor itself, $5-600. Might not be the best time to sell as it seems everyone is still "holding on" to see what happens with the economy. Of course they"ll still buy a low ball good deal but maybe not splurge for something. At least that's how it seems to be up around here anyway. 1 hour ago, HyperPete said: Can anyone ballpark the value for me, and will the big show be a good place to sell it, or a place to get beaten up on price? That could go either way. There isn't always a bunch of loaders for sale there but there are always plenty of WH buyers looking for stuff. (See above comment)
HyperPete 835 #8 Posted May 28 That sounds more reasonable as the high end approaches what I paid. I can sit on it for 4 years until the economy improves! 2

HyperPete 835 #10 Posted May 28 This is why I created this thread, thank you. It saves me the embarrassment of posting it in for sale for what I need from it.

Was it me.... I'd keep it and use for whatever makes it handy. Use the larger 4 x 4 when needed.

It looks as if I'll be doing something very similar until prices go up. I'm going to learn how to use a spray gun effectively on the spare '73 frame in the meantime.
AlexR 1,742 #13 Posted May 29 You can ask whatever you want for it. I don't think you would get any flack for it because of the loader. Because like @953 nut said people are very interested in loaders. It's all about how badly you want to sell it and if someone is willing to pay what you are asking. I think what gets flack is the people asking $500+ for a 70's or later machine that has been sitting outside for 20 years doesn't run, (or even better doesn't have a engine haha) is missing pieces and is very worn out.
c-series don 9,834 #14 Posted May 29 I paid $1500 for just the loader(no tractor) around 15 or so years ago.
Moparfanforever 886 #15 Posted May 29 I gave $1,500 for this Ark 500 and C161 . C161...runs and drives, but overall rough. Kinda rare tractor i guess. Loader had all new hoses. Has a homemade sub-frame. No weight box but does have weights on the back.
