310-8 Lighting circuit

On the 310-8, the lights are powered by a separate lighting coil on the engine, probably why this model does not have tail lights.  Has anyone added a diode so the lights can be powered by the battery and the lighting circuit?

I've eliminated the light circuit and just used the battery for lights.

You definitely need to use LEDs if doing that.

The battery charging circuit is low amp output.

I've upgraded the charging system in the past to the 15 amp charging system.   Doing so requires a new stator and rectifier.   I'd have to see a wiring diagram to see how to rewire the headlights.  On a GT1142 I  had I was able to rewire the headlight supply wire to the accessories terminal on the ignition switch after I changed the stator and rectifier.

Just Google search "PAR 36 LEDs" and you'll find plenty of plug and play options.

Just don't forget a little ground jumper to the hood from the frame so they don't flicker.
