D_Mac 9,241 #1 Posted Friday at 09:40 AM So I picked this up yesterday. 10ft little fishing boat. Came with trolling motor and battery. Need to clean it up some and go and register it. Fits in the back of the truck. No need for a trailer. Weighs about 150lbs. Great little boat. Hope to be out on the water soon. Sold my canoe last year, figured I give this a try. 8

D_Mac 9,241 #4 Posted Friday at 11:10 AM Yeah I live off Lake Ontario. There is a bay off the lake and a nice " creek " that runs into the bay. We canoe up the creek it's beautiful back there. Plenty of birds , ducks, hawks, swans, even some bald eagles to see. Fishing ain't bad either. Here are some photos of some past canoe trips. 3 2

They are an easy to handle boat and it will be much more stable than a canoe, no worries about tipping it over. 2

My boat ain't nothin' special but I hate cleaning that slime out of the carpet. I'll tell my friends, "Nice fish, unhook it over the side of the boat. Don't bring it in." If one was caught that was "wall hanging" quality, or they was gonna eat it, it would have to be put on a stringer and hung over the edge.

OutdoorEnvy 1,745 #8 Posted Friday at 01:32 PM (edited) Very cool grab! I almost got one of these a few times in high school. I had a fishing tube starting at 14 and was on the lookout for one of those bass raiders but never worked out. Should be a stable fishing platform and the trolling motor will make it easy to get around. Let us know when the first catch in it is in the books! OutdoorEnvy 1,745 #11 Posted Friday at 03:50 PM (edited) Nice fish! Catching walleye in Canada is almost too easy A 1 man 6 walleye limit in Oklahoma that are all 19-24" is something only a master angler can pull off Edited Friday at 03:51 PM by OutdoorEnvy

D_Mac 9,241 #13 Posted Friday at 09:02 PM Walleye is, Pike not so much. Pike is very boney. We at least bring them in the boat before releasing them. Both of those fish give ya a good battle. Fun to catch.
Wayne0 993 #14 Posted Friday at 09:10 PM Yeah, we have Pickerel here. Some get as large as small Pike. (24"-28") It's like eating a pin cushion.
adsm08 2,771 #15 Posted Friday at 11:47 PM Those little Pelicans look fun. I've seen a few guys using them on local lakes, and even some of the creeks. They seem plenty easy to handle, watched a lot of them get lifted in and out of trucks with just two people. I can't get all four of us on one though.
ebinmaine 71,062 #16 Posted Friday at 11:48 PM Yep. Ain't any walleye or pike here. Never seen either one. Pickerel though. Tully pond outside of Athol MA there's bajillions of em. Mostly small. Fun to catch.
D_Mac 9,241 #17 Posted Saturday at 01:19 AM I just like getting out on the water. Sometimes I won't even fish. I just think it's so peaceful back in there. Didn't even look at the boat today, was to tired after work. I did order 2 new plugs for the haul off ebay. Maybe Monday I will register it. Think I'm going to need a new battery. One that came with it is from 2018. I did put a charge on it but not sure I will trust it. I imagine this thing be a little tricky to paddle if the battery gave out. I also want to make a 2 wheel dolly for it to make it easier to move around like for when I mow the lawn. Stay tuned.

Throw the trolling motor in a barrel of water to create load, crank it to 60 to 70 percent & see how long it will run on the battery, Nuttin else it will give you an idea on your run time.

I can relate to this. A sunrise or sunset on the water is good for the soul. There's plenty of trips with nothing to show for it and it's still about the best time spent. For eating pike my family would pickle them with some onion. We would eat them on crackers. This was a northern thing. I learned to love walleye fishing in South Dakota on Lake Oahe. We would keep a pike here in there as the pickled pike jars got low. It's probably an acquired taste but we like it...or don't know any better. It's been a decade at least since I had any. Definitely don't have Pike in Oklahoma.

D_Mac 9,241 #21 Posted Saturday at 08:12 PM Yeah. NYS requires you to have vest as well as other safty equipment. We don't keep anything we catch here. Up the creek we catch pike, perch, and bass. Lots of fun and great being out on the water.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,409 #22 Posted Sunday at 10:08 AM I spent a lot of time fishing local ponds on bass raider and also Coleman crawdad. Both are great but bass raider sits you up a little higher. 1
