Non enthanal gas prices for Wheelhorse

Recently looked at local Wawa at non ethanol price to start using in my 856. $3.74 gallon. About 30 cents more than a gallon of diesel fuel. Central Florida. How much is it in your area? Fun to find out price differences.

Good point. Going to drain the rest of the regular gas from my sediment bowl tomorrow before adding the non ethanol

Those are the 2025 state gasoline taxes.    These are in addition to the  $0.184 cents/ gallon federal gasoline tax.      This equals $0.76 / gallon tax here in Pa.

That needs to be considered whenever comparing gas prices.  Ethanol laced fuel will give less gas mileage and more taxes for the states to waste.

If you are going to use the tractor right away, I would not bother. Just let it burn up.

 

Here is WI regular gas is at $2.89, non ethanol premium is $.80 more.

The federal and some state gasoline road use tax can be refunded for off road used gasoline.

When I was running fishing and crabbing trips in Delaware and burning over 400 gallon/ year, I applied for these refunds and got around $050/ gallon back.

Regular gas is around $2.90 to $3.00 here. 

91 octane is less than a buck more. 

 

Non ethanol is 90 to 93 octane if we get it at a fuel station. Pricing varies around $1 to $1.50 more than regular 87 octane. 

Example:  Merrill's in Waterboro. $2.86 vs $4.59. 

 

Having dealt with the evils of ethanol far too many times we WILL NOT put alcohol laced trash in ANY small engines here anymore.

Between humidity and air temperature changes causing condensation we've has issues using ONE TANK of trash gas in our splitter.

No happy tale here in RI. I would need to go out of state (like @Sparky does) to get a reasonable price. HD and Lowes sell the short gallon - 108 oz vs 128 - for about $28, last time I checked...

We have 2 in-state vendors that deal with off-road stuff - $100 plus tax for a 5 gallon pail  of VP 94 octane racing gas - works out to about $25 and change a gallon.

If gets worse... IF you bring your own DOT approved empty gas can and have "The Gas Barrista" pour it into you container, the price shoots up to $32!!!! Two gallon minimum.

. About the same on our side of MI.  The amount I'll burn per year in my small engines and pontoon per year isn't enough to worry about price.  Last year, we might have used 15 gallons.

 

Now this year, I've gotten my 8N back into action on our Ky. property.  Usage will be up, but Ky gas tax is less than MI gas tax.

The only serious issues I have had was with E10 gas purchased in Maine.  We have snowmobiled all over the state and had to buy fuel wherever it was available.  The problems surfaced when Maine forced the swill on everyone selling gas and those old seasonal tanks had plenty of water and crud that the ethanol readily sucked up.  The story was that northern Maine was supplied with gas out of Canada which caused the delay in compliance.  I hate that we are forced to use a product that exists only for the benefit of certain special interests, but I do think that the problems get blowed out of proportion.  I have used ethanol free for years in my saws and blowers but everything else got the 10%.  Since the Wheel Horses have been put on light duty now, with other equipment doing most of the heavy lifting, I now use the ethanol free for long storage times.

Haven’t ever lived outside of Florida.. forgot other states still have required staff pump gas.. is it the same as I’ve seen in the 1950s 60s movies.. where they fill the tires.. check vehicle fluids.. clean windshield while you wait for gas tank to be filled?

I have a station just down the road from me, and their non ethanol price is $3.29 a gallon. 87 octane ethanol laced is $2.75

He pays OVER TWICE the daily market rate of regular 87.

Non E gas is tough to find around here unless you buy gallon cans. $$$$

Just like those white collapsible boat water hoses are twice the cost of the blue collapsiable garden hoses.

Only NJ and OR have the union pushed welfare for hose jockeys.  When I stopped in OR to fill my tank I grabbed the nozzle and started pumping, the hose jockey came storming out and had a hissey.  He had no clue that diesel can be pumped by the driver because it isn't as flammable and they can't use that excuse.  I hope that we never get back to the nonsense of strangers scratching my fenders, selling empty cans of oil and bashing the filler neck.  Filling hot tires with air is not recommended by anyone.

I have to buy my boat fuel at the dock also. It's always at least $1.50 more per gallon. My boat is 39ft & weighs 18,000lbs so it's obviously not getting trailered to a fuel station. I'm feeding 2 big block Chevrolet engines. Fuel consumption is 1.6-2.0 gallons per mile! Not miles per gallon! Fuel capacity is 325 gallons. Typically an afternoon out on the water costs about $125-200. 

 

Jet A is almost $5/gallon presently at my local airport. My Beechcraft Bonanza consumes approximately 12gallons per hour at cruse speed of 185mph & fuel capacity is 75gallons. My girlfriends family lives in southern Ohio.  It's a 3hr drive by car or about 45min-1hr flight. That's about $150 in fuel costs. 

 

I need less expensive hobbies. 🙄

Between boat & plane fuel a few gallons of ethanol free is nothing. I use it in all yard equipment,  motorcycles,  snowmobiles, & of course Wheel Horses.

Runs about 90 cents a gallon over 87 fuel, at the boat ramp $2 more. (and a huge PIA to fill cans for home)

I definitely use less of non e gallons per cut. Might be 20%

It have become much easier to get, a couple local stations within 6 miles have it now.

I very seldom have any carb issues. As a matter of fact, just yesterday I was at a friends cleaning his 520H carb. He uses the cheap stuff.

PA is a self serve state but there is a local independent that pumps it for you has Non-E for about .90 more than regular and is normally a .05 cheaper than the do it yourself places. They even load the cans back in my truck.  kinda nice on cold windy rainy days...  The do not check (or sell oil) and don't mess with air/tires...
