That’s the thing I used rustoleum primer and it was a enamel primer and then I used rust oleum almond enamel and now I have issues so I don’t know and shoot today I looked at mg blower shroud that I primed 2 weeks ago and painted and then put a second coat on last night and it wrinkled on me I must be painting when it’s too humid or somthing

Rustoleum takes a LOONNNGGG time to fully cure.

 

Either put the following coats on within 10-20 minutes, or wait WEEKS before recoating.

 

It cures from the top down.  Even if it feels dry to the touch, under that skin is not cured yet.  That's what causes the wrinkling.

 

Or don't use Rustoleum.

 I use Rusto all the time. Put the clear right on over the last color while still wet. Never an issue and dries within a couple of hours. Wheels engines it doesn't matter.

 

Did this engine about a week ago. The head I even used Duplicolor engine white with the Rusto clear right over it. put the head on the next day.

Some parts I painted a month ago is it too late to clear them? Also is it necessary to clear what would it do?

I painted with rain threatening with out problems. Looks more like contamination to me. Did you spray any other type of aerosol during or after when the paint was wet? Anything with silicone is really bad. A next door neighbor could spray something and wreck your paint

No I cleaned my rims with breaker cleaner and wiped it down well, I did this on all 4 rims and the paint turned out ok on all except 2 rims and the blower housing needed another coat of paint so I painted that area with another coat of paint  last night and looked at it this afternoon noon and it wrinkled on me

I use the clear for added durability and quicker drying time. I think the formula has more enamel drier in it. I used to mix paint for Napa. some paints have more drier in the formula than others.

 

I had to get a custom color made a few years back. The formula had no drier in it. That stuff never dried! 

 

I have resprayed some wheels that got banged up after a year. Couple of coats of Rusto then a coat of clear. No issues. I have to do another set soon. We'll see how they look.

I think the brake cleaner may have done it. Use paint prep products. Some Brake cleaner dries really well. some don't.

Dang I wish mf wheels turned out that nice but you’ve probably painted more then me this is my first restore and honestly first time spray painting anything and I just painted rims and it’s hard to get them nice even with experience from what I’ve been told I am 16 though so got lots of years to learn and improve

Windex is good, I like 50/50 alcohol and water. 

Like Mike said, spray the next coat when wet and the enamel clears is really tough and saves fading.

Cleanliness is so important if you want a good finished product.  Spray some brake-cleaner on a window and wipe it off with a rag and see how the window looks.   Now do the same with any other petroleum based product, next repeat the process with Windex and you will know why that is the best solution for cleanliness.

Find a place that sells to professional auto body mechanics and you will find this type of product. Ending up with a real nice finish is time consuming but well worth it.
