C100_8 19 #1 Posted April 30 Hello, I've enjoyed this site for a while but just joined tonight to try to get some help with a new to me engine. I've got a C100 8 speed that I've had for a few years, and the 10 HP Kohler is tired and smokes a lot. Last weekend I took a chance on a K321 14HP engine at a swap meet that seemed to be a reasonable price. I got the mouse nest cleaned out of the tin, cleaned the points and the carb and tonight, got it running on the bench. So far so good. The biggest outstanding issue at the moment is that it has the wrong dip stick in it. I can find some online, but I'm having a hard time spending half or more than I paid for the engine just to get a dip stick. Option 1: Does anyone on here have one they're willing to part with for a reasonable price? Option 2: Can someone give some accurate dimensions of the dip stick length? There is a dipstick with the engine but it has the wrong top, so it doesn't seat in the tube and bounces around and spits oil out while running. I have a 3D printer, so I could print a new top, add an o-ring and attach the metal stick to it, but I need to know how long it should be from the top of the tube to the fill/full marks. Thanks for the help
Racinbob 11,779 #2 Posted April 30 Simply drain the oil and pour in the correct amount per factory specs. Most are 2 quarts and the wobble mount motor is 1.5 quarts. Measure to the oil from the top of the tube an you'll be good to go.
C100_8 19 #3 Posted April 30 Well that's so simple I feel dumb for asking. My excuse will be that I changed the oil last night with a big jug and therefore almost impossible to tell how much was added. But I'll change again using quart containers and get the measurement. Thanks.
953 nut 58,259 #4 Posted April 30 If you look at the manual below you will see group 10 is dipsticks and there were a lot of them. Using you engine's SPEC # you can determine which dipstick is correct for your engine. Once you have the part number you could call Lincoln at A-z Tractor to see if he has one. https://www.a-ztractor.com/
