Jonboy 0 #1 Posted April 28 The lift arm broke at the base on my 310-8 and I welded it a couple years ago but it broke again. I tried rewelding it but I’m not good at welding and so I want to know the steps involved to get it off for replacement. Not sure where to start.
OutdoorEnvy 1,770 #2 Posted April 28 This is where a parts rig is handy and might be the best option. Offhand have you thought about maybe sleeving it with another pipe and welding it?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,492 #3 Posted April 28 Never had one apart but the illustrated parts list may help. It looks like that handle and the shaft are 2 pieces retained by one roll (47) pin drove inside the other (48). I will guess the biggest struggle will be getting the shaft (46) out of the bellcrank (19). Better start applying a good penetrating oil to everything. https://www.partstree.com/models/21-10k805-310-8-toro-garden-tractor-1988/manual-lift-linkage-20/

Unless your 310 has lived a pampered life inside a climate controlled building @gwest_ca has made the understatement of the year. The bell-crank will be brown-welded (rusted) to the shaft and will require repeated heating and applications of penetrating oil. If you can find all of the replacement parts needed to replace the entire assembly you may want to consider cutting the old parts out. With any luck A-Z Tractor may have the parts needed. Lee1977 7,215 #6 Posted April 29 Getting part 19 off is like getting a rusted hitch pin out or worse. I hope it isn't rusted on.
daveoman1966 3,841 #7 Posted April 29 Is this the lift arm you need? I parted out this 314-A tractor and MAY still have the lift arm apparatus.
