My doctor tells me that I must drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water daily. That does not include other beverages made with water like coffee or tea. Just plain old water.

What a coincidence, while reading this thread I was re-hydrating! lol

Not really, but there is somewhat of a medical reason. Had mediocre/poor kidney numbers for a long time. Been having two a day and much improved. Dr. said well maybe so keep doing it! :D

Water hydration and also very importantly, electrolyte saturation. These are things that cannot possibly be overstressed.

Our bodies are made out of up to 80% water depending on who you listen to.

It is the single most important chemical we need to take in every day.

For the last several months I've been concentrating on drinking 2 to 3 ports of water per day.

More and more recent research is showing that if we are staying even so much as moderately busy we should be consuming this amount as a bare absolute minimum.

I've noticed that how much water I drink will vary my blood sugar numbers.  If I'm short on water, my numbers are up a few points.

I almost always have one of those stainless steel vacuum insulated water glasses within reach.  I just need to remember to drink from it when I'm deeply involved working on a project.

I first noticed and paid attention to the importance of staying hydrated as an adult in my 40's, back when my kids first started playing organized sports, and especially soccer.  Their best coaches always encouraged them to take frequent water breaks, not only before, during and after practices and games, but also on the days in between.  They're still playing the game, at ages 35 and 28, still hydrating well, and loving every minute.  They've both seen what can happen when one of them, or a teammate, fails to drink enough water, and they avoid those consequences at all costs.  My wife always has a supply of water handy when she's working outside, and I'm... a work in progress.
