Torrence20 23 #1 Posted April 20 I recently got a c120 auto unsure of the year. Everything on this unit has had something wrong with it. It’s as if someone tore the entire thing apart to restore it then decided not to and put it back together but got a lot of it wrong… anyways I’ve got it mostly sorted out. The pto drive pulley was rubbing on the drive belt shield. So I removed the pulley and while doing so I noticed it had some washers and even a small thrust washer on the end of it and it was also missing the 2 retainers that go into the groove and are held by the 4 bolts that also hold the friction disc on. So I think there are pieces missing and also some that don’t belong. I found a ipl but it’s a very bad picture and not detailed enough to show what I’m looking for. Does anyone have a clear parts list and or pictures of disassembly or video so I can see exactly what should or should not be there. Also how far away from the engine should the pulley that drives the transmission be? I was thinking the set screws had backed off and moved and that’s what was allowing the outer pulley to contact the belt shield but now I’m wondering if it’s because the keepers are missing. Thanks for any info If it's a Kohler engine the drive pulley should set pretty much as far in toward the engine block as possible. There's a (flange?) on the crankshaft to limit travel. Torrence20 23 #6 Posted April 20 Ok so I think I have more of a picture of what’s going on here. I has time this morning to pull the pto off of my other wheel horse. It’s a 310-8 but it looks to be the same or should be the same rather. So like I had said I think this unit was completely striped down at one point. I think what may have happened. Is when they put the engine back in they bolted it down in the wrong holes which shifted the engine over. Which then made the pto not function correctly. So their fix was to grind the head off of a bolt and thread it into the crankshaft and then modified the stub shaft that goes into the pulley hub. And used some washers and thrust washers to make it “work” I’ll attatch some pictures and see if anyone agrees with that conclusion. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
