oliver2-44 10,405 #1 Posted April 5 (edited) This was hanging on the wall of my Moms house along with a blue glass collection. She had a lot and I mean a lot of glass collections for us to go through as part of her estate. Until now, I never knew what these were either. Senior members might hold back there comments for a little while to give others a chance. No Google Lens Cheating. Yes, its a blue wall hanging vase. But what's unique about were it might "have" been hung? The table knife is just for size. Edited April 5 by oliver2-44

953 nut 58,223 #3 Posted April 5 Cobalt blue glassware is very popular with collectors but don't try taking it through a radiation detector; cobalt is radioactive though new blue glass contains no cobalt.
oliver2-44 10,405 #4 Posted April 5 @SylvanLakeWH is correct. Anybody that drove a VW with a car vase surely fits that Senior Member or Ol Geezers Club I mentioned. These have a hole in the back to hang on a screw, so no bracket needed. But what vintage car were these popular for! Can't get much past you guys! 11 minutes ago, 953 nut said: Cobalt blue glassware is very popular with collectors but don't try taking it through a radiation detector; cobalt is radioactive though new blue glass contains no cobalt. Some area of my Mom's house should glow! 1 2

My 1931 Chrysler sedan had them as did most high-end cars of that time. 44 minutes ago, oliver2-44 said: Senior members might hold back there comments for a little while to give others a chance I didn't mention this before per your request. Sure beats a bouncing bobble head on the rear view mirror! 1
RJ Hamner 1,025 #7 Posted April 5 Was looking at the collection of old cars at a farm many years ago and came across was was called in the day an "Opera Coach" It had a pair of these one on each side of the rear seat. We had made a comment on them and the owner said they were called Bud Vases. Here was this old car in really good condition sitting in the field out behind his barn! 1
