I eat a decent lunch and then just nibble for dinner. I rarely am hungry but know I need to eat something. Try those shakes I mentioned. They are awesome. Steve I have! And I agree. Very good flavor. I've been using a particular protein powder that was recommended by a friend. I'll post it later. Good macros. Good flavor.
ebinmaine 73,950 #128 Posted August 25 Two big accomplishments this past week. 1. For the first time in 8 or 9 years I've been through a week of vacation and did not gain weight. 2. BIG hike this past Saturday. Approximately 7 miles with large elevation gains. Tumbledown Mt via Parker Ridge and down a very technical Loop Trail. 1
ebinmaine 73,950 #129 Posted August 26 I believe I've mentioned in the past that there's a part of human basic survival which makes us keep a few pounds of body weight after a very serious physical exertion. Many MANY of the hikes I've done over the years have made me do just that. Perfectly normal. It occured to me this morning that, to the best of my recollection, Saturday's hike was the largest I've ever done after which I have not retained 2 to 4 lb of body weight for a few days. I find that very interesting. I'm now coming up on 24 hours fasting. I feel better than expected! I'm aware of my stomach being empty... but really not hungry. I'll go overnight and see how I feel. 🤔

Curious, after a hike like that and then retaining that weight, how much are you hydrating following the hike and during fast? Do you use any Propel powder or anything to replace electrolytes? ebinmaine 73,950 #131 Posted August 26 32 hours fasted. 8 am will be 36. I'll make it that far and see how my work day pans out. For a busy day at my physical and mentally demanding job I NEED good energy. Ill base my feeding hours on energy depletion. 4.1 lbs down this morning. Most of that is water because of the lack of carbs in the body but it feels great to be back on a downturn.
ebinmaine 73,950 #132 Posted August 26 3 hours ago, Brockport Bill said: approx how much distance and how many hours was the hike? Last week we were on our feet most days. Several were minimal elevation with milage ranging from 3.2 to 4.6. Two were mountain hikes. Both around 1850 elevation gain. One was 3.8 miles. The other nearly twice that! 3 hours ago, Brockport Bill said: Curious, after a hike like that and then retaining that weight, how much are you hydrating following the hike and during fast? Most days I drink about 2 liters of fluid. Mostly water with a little lemon juice in it. On the bigger hiking day I went through 3 liters of water, then some milk when back to camp. Milk is actually a better hydrator than water. I'd also consumed several good quality carefully selected fruit bars and protein bars (not the standard trash diet ones) along with a good chicken meal in the evening. 3 hours ago, Brockport Bill said: Do you use any Propel powder or anything to replace electrolytes? Yes. Tablets. The ones I have are a 9-in-1 mineral supplement. My understanding of the weight retention under severe physical stress is that our 300,000 year old selves will never adapt to the modern world of total availability. Our elementary original bodies have built in survival modes like any other animal. The subconscious has no way of knowing when the next feeding time will occur so it holds on to whatever is currently available. 2

ebinmaine 73,950 #142 Posted Thursday at 08:41 AM (edited) TWO MORE GOALS ACHIEVED Since May I've been down to 245, 248 lb at least four times. I keep popping back up to 254, 259. 1. Earlier this week I decided that I really needed to get down below 244 and stick to that. I'm at 244.4 I'd also decided to make more attempts at lengthening my fasts. As you can see in the videos above, there are some great benefits to getting into the third day. As of this post at 4:30, 4:45 AM Thursday, I'm now around 60 hours in - not counting coffee. The creamer does have a minimal effect on the fast but research shows you go back to the autophagy and high speed fat burn within an hour or two. >> I ain't gonna give up my coffee. << Edited Thursday at 10:10 PM by ebinmaine
ebinmaine 73,950 #143 Posted Thursday at 10:11 PM Made it past 72 hours!! Plan is to begin feeding slowly tomorrow morning after 5. That'll be 80 hours plus. I wanna wait til the morning so I can see a more accurate number of lbs lost.
ebinmaine 73,950 #144 Posted yesterday at 08:52 AM 84 hour fast (not counting the half n half in coffee) 10.8 lbs lost in 4 days! To ease back in to feeding I had a Kind protein bar. Dark Chocolate Nut. Low carb. A decent source of fats, fiber, and energy without overloading. A few hours and I'll find more... 1
