953 nut 59,734 #1 Posted January 3 Fruitcake Toss Day is on January 3. On this day, take that fruitcake you never got around to eating and send it spiraling hundreds or thousands of feet into the air, depending on the power of your throwing arm. Every year, a few hundred people gather in downtown Manitou Springs, Colorado, to hurl hundreds of fruitcakes into the air by hand, cannon, or slingshot. Fruitcakes last for ages, so don’t throw out that fruitcake we both know no one in your home will eat; throw it into the air! 1 5

squonk 43,710 #3 Posted January 3 I got a good one. worked with this guy at a Chevy dealer. He was in the parts dept. and lets just say he was a tad shady. Uglier than me ( if that's possible) and he drove a Ford Fairmount that had more holes in it than a tent at Pocono. Well it finally gave up so he comes in with a big white 65 Caddy. I think he was using it for a mobile dumpster because it was full of junk. He even took the registration sticker off of the Ford and put it on the Caddy. A Ford Fleetwood! We found a giant stuffed rabbit in a used car and stuck it on the roof. He put that rabbit in the back seat and rode around for months with it there. My wife help out an old lady so for Christmas she received this fruitcake. Well we didn't want it and she was going to just throw it out. I said I had a place for it. I figured I could sneak that fruitcake onto the floor of the back seat and it would stay there for eternity until he needed a wheel chock or something. So I put it in the Caddy. About a week later I'm at the parts counter and he's talking about how good this fruitcake someone stuck in his car tasted! 1

He has a Tigger wearing a button-down and a ball cap in his truck and a stuffed moose al decked out like Paul Bunyan in his Bronco. I hate driving his cars because they scare the crap out of me every time I back up.
8ntruck 7,771 #5 Posted January 4 My wife's family had a fruit cake that was passed around for several years. Each time it was passed onto someone else it was on a special occasion of some sort. The fruit cake got decorated appropriately for the occasion. Each new decoration incorporated all of the previous decorations. Some of the items used were a Chia Pet Christmas tree, a troll doll, a cheap plastic wreath, and, after breaking once, duct tape to hold it together. Some of the decoration themes were: Tacky Chritsmas gift, the Grim Reper for a birthday, the family matriarch for another higher numbered birthday,. I don't remember the other incarnation, but they were all a visual pun or some semi embarrassing comment on the person who received the fruit cake. It got passed on to one of our nice - then it disappeared. Everyone kept expecting it to show up, but It didn't. The nice finally fessed up that she had forgotten that she had put it in the trunk of her car - which she had sold a couple years back. We all got a good laugh imagining the reaction of the new car's owner when they discovered that 'treasure' in the trunk.
