Mackler 10 #1 Posted November 28 Hi, I am a new member from Leicester, England. My first 227-5 is used for mowing and pulling a trailer for firewood. My latest 227-5 needs a fair bit of work to get it usable, which I plan to do in the spring. I have managed to find the manuals for the 227-5, the 36" rear discharge deck and the Kawasaki FC540V engine already on this site which have been really useful. 6
Mickwhitt 4,647 #2 Posted November 28 Hi there and welcome along to the wonderful world of Red Square. I am in the good old United States of England in South Yorkshire, by American standards you and I practically live next door. Lol I restored a well used (knackered) C-125 tractor a few years back. I bought it as a retirement project to have some fun with. It had been used amongst other things to haul slate in north Wales to build a traditional farmhouse. The rear hubs were worn and had been bonded to the axles with liquid metal. The front wheel bearings were so worn they had damaged the stub axles. The engine was sound but required a full overhaul. Several years of work resulted in FRED, my road registered and legal tractor. Complete with snow plow and dozer blade. Without the amazing folks at Red Square I would not have been able to carry out such an extensive restoration project. They helped me with every aspect, from the chassis and gearbox overhaul to the engine and electrics. This was Fred in front of the farmhouse he helped to build, carting slate over a mile down a rutted farm track for months. He had already been messed with, losing the rear mudguard/seat pan and gaining a roll bar. Welcome along and enjoy the show, we don't just talk tractors, most every problem can be solved at Red Square and a good chat is sometimes all that's needed.
