AlexR 1,365 #176 Posted April 23 Got the beams leveled at all the support points so there are just some low spots to fill in on some of the beams I think I might even start laying down new floor on Saturday. Its definitely a incredible difference from what the floor was I probably had 6 inch variances in the floor to I believe I got it around 1/2" 4

I think the floor will be completely laid down by Thursday need to do a little sanding in a couple spots and then the timber oil will go on. The week after I gotta get the stairwell enclosed in, and the sliding barn doors on. 3
SylvanLakeWH 27,613 #182 Posted Sunday at 12:32 AM Curious... are you doing this solo? Amazing amount of heavy duty work... I am impressed...
HyperPete 574 #183 Posted Sunday at 12:35 AM (edited) My son-in-law is working on a similar project. He has been lucky enough to be able to hire his Amish neighbors several times. Unfortunately, last week there was a wind storm here. It actually lifted the roof off and dropped it back down causing a lot of damage. He ran out when he saw this happening and opened the door which was ripped out of his hands and thrown across the yard. He said he actually cried when this happened. He has been working diligently on this for about a year. Now he is waiting to see if insurance will cover any of this. I hope that your project continues on uneventfully. It's pretty awesome watching your progress. Edited Sunday at 12:36 AM by HyperPete

The only help I have had so far is the Amish neighbor helped me tear out that last part of the floor.

Sorry to hear about that wind damage to your son-in-laws barn. That is pretty devastating to have something you work on so hard get messed up. Thank you very much!
HyperPete 574 #186 Posted Sunday at 01:26 AM Another downside to the damage is that he is receiving matching grants from the state up to a certain dollar amount annually since it is a historic building. He has to complete specific work for which he's received the grants by a specific deadline. This damage has set him back and he's afraid that he won't meet the deadline. He has applied for an extension which he will hopefully receive due to the circumstances.

953 nut 58,065 #189 Posted Monday at 11:19 PM Great work, guess there is a reason there aren't any floor boards in this location.

Yes there is a stairwell going in there. And I have two doors that will go on a barn door track in front of the opening and the rest of it will be closed in.
AlexR 1,365 #191 Posted Wednesday at 12:14 AM Just a couple boards left on both sides and the floor is down.
