kthomas62 44 #1 Posted August 16, 2024 (edited) Hello all! I know there are tons of threads about belts, and I have searched the forum but haven't come up with anything. I usually try to record the numbers and size when replacing belts but I don't have the one for the deck. My deck model is 05-42MS05 / 42 inch side discharge and my deck belt broke this evening while mowing so, I am looking for the part number for a replacement belt and want to say Thanks in advance. I am talking about the deck belt, not the PTO to deck belt. Kevin Edited August 16, 2024 by kthomas62

peter lena 9,233 #6 Posted August 16, 2024 @kthomas62 belt issues are usually related to . COLLECTIVE DRAG , issues , while you are replacing this belt , check out how easily the deck moves , driven by this belt , how much belt / deck tension BUZZING is going on at the spring slide tension point ? , if the belt is very busy in tension drive , usually related to spindle drag issues . look at the belt condition after some usage , that will verify how things are moving , pete

kthomas62 44 #8 Posted August 17, 2024 I definitely appreciate all the help guys!! The spindles are all free wheeling so to speak, I belive the belt just got old and broke in the thick grass. I bought this WH 5 or 6 years ago and have never changed the deck belt, and we have had quite a bit of rain lately which have really made the grass is thick and the crab grass is coming on so, I believe it was just more then the old belt could take. It's had several seasons of mowing thick grass this time of year so it was time to replace it. Thanks again!! Kevin
