AlexR 2,201 #205 Posted September 6 While we are off topic, we took the kids to a old town days event near us today. Kids got to ride ponies, have a pony wagon ride, mini train ride, tug of war with draft horses. And of course all the steam tractors, hit and miss engines, and tractors. Oil tractors, gas and diesel ones too. They had some Wheelhorse's there as well.

AlexR 2,201 #208 Posted September 7 Hood is way better after sanding that second coat of primer Getting the front wheels cleaned up and painted. It's just the primer currently also got pair of deestone tri ribs. What do you guys think of this for bracing the fender pan? It will lift the pan up about 3/16 of a inch but the pivot and latch points shouldn't be effected. One last question what color should I paint the wheel weights? I'm thinking of 3 options one is the same color as the rims which will be cottage white. Second is red, and third is black. I'm leaning towards red but not fully decided yet.

Body matching red would look sharp.
SylvanLakeWH 29,089 #210 Posted September 7 looking good!!! braces look good! color - that's you call. All three options would work...

I agree, my only reason for considering another color is the weights hide so much of the rim there isn't much to contrast.

Front weights Rears IH 25 pounds weights, I realize I can mount these on the inside of the rim but I don't think it would look right to have front weights and visibly not look like there are rear ones. Also planning on fluid filling the rears as well.
ebinmaine 73,893 #214 Posted September 7 IMHO: With the rear weights having a big open hole the red or black would be great. The fronts are more solid but the outer ring of the wheel would still show.
AlexR 2,201 #215 Posted September 8 (edited) Getting some paint on. 3 coats of paint and 2 of clear. And got my rear tires BKT TR315 in 23x10.5-12 Couldn't wait to compare it to the Deestones will have to compare again when it's on a wheel and inflated. Interestingly the bars are actually a little narrower on the BKT's Edited September 8 by AlexR
AlexR 2,201 #216 Posted September 15 I've been wanting to get back to this tractor but I got other things taking my time right now, cleaning up the other tractors planning on taking them to a show this weekend. And then I have been working on building a chicken coop as well. Chickens are starting to lay eggs now and need a place for winter.

Sometimes you have to used what you have. Crayons are easily broken and get lost. He did get the smile right, Make's me smile too when these old Wheel Horses fire up after 50 years and go to work.
AlexR 2,201 #219 Posted September 24 Since this is going to be a plow mule, I needed a original belt as that's what's needed to work properly in my experience. Not cheap, but I'm sure the amount of them floating around is always decreasing.

I'd bet they'll be available for years to come.
