They are called transport level stops, it is right there in your  owners manual.

@tallen4392  those  R/D  decks , as well as others , really benefit from  son sun time  ,  break the grunge cycle , clean , oil soak dow , hot sun , also finish season with decks oil soaked , propped up to wall beams , screw eyes , extension spring hold up , detailed go over , for anything , lucas H/D  green grease in avery related bearing , no whyining  bearing noise , small fine file blade touch up . once you do this , you are a convert , pete

it regulates the verticle travel distance up and down of the lift assembly carriage -- it would also be obvious if you had the deck off the tractor and grabbed the front horizontal cross bar and lifted it up and down you would see the bolt/nut stop of how the deck floats -- you will note that bolt has a height adjustment in the slot to maximize or minimize the up/down travel -- one of the reason the WH decks give such a nice cut is because it floats -- many other mower decks from other companies are not designed to float the same way and therefore do not cut as evenly on your lawn

New  to  this ; Got a  three  blade  42   deck  that  once  engaged   seems  to  make  a   noticeable   or  pitch  change   while   cutting in  !st    gear .   kind  of  like   a  turbo  engaged   but   not   on  all  passes   across  the  lawn   I  have   to  assume  all  3   blades   are  always  engaged   at   same   speed. Cut  is  not   always   level  on   flat  turf?  I  need  help says  quahog

Reading between the lines, I'm guessing you are in 1st gear because thick grass.  So I'll guess the PTO clutch or drive belt may be slipping under load, may need to be tightened up a tad.
