Fingers crossed !! man is it a lot of effort to get these parts ground down and cleaned up. Special thanks to @ebinmaine for transmission help dealing with the hubs, giving it an initial inspection and supplying me with the necessary parts. I replaced the bearings and seals and it’s ready to bolt back together and get some paint. Then this thing will be looking like some form of tractor again!! still lots of grinding and paint to do, but it feels like I have advanced the ball way down the field here. I ended up going with the ol regal red on mine (clear coated) and it’s brighter than I wanted but I think I’m pretty happy with it in the end. Maz91 287 #41 Posted September 29 Wow, time really flies! Still been working on my Raider although not a ton of pics. Progress is slow with a 1 1/2 year old and 200+ year old house, but we are moving along. Really racing the clock to be able to plow with the tractor this winter. with the transmission back in I decided to throw it on a spare set of wheels. This simple act completely ignited a fire under me to pick up the pace. I’ve been grinding away at loads of parts in an attempt to paint them before these fall temps really set in. I’m hoping within the next week to be down to the only the hood, engine and wheels remaining. Wish me luck! any guesses what the HECK some previous owner did to these attach a matic brackets? I see that they were an OE wheel horse item sold as a bolt on setup, but something is telling me these are not wheel horse factory welds 🤣 either way, I’m glad to have them and I’ll probably clean up the expert welds with a grinder so they look a liiiittle better. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Maybe it’s just me but I would never in a million years send something I worked on out the door looking like that. They looked better caked in oil and dirt haha. Maz91 287 #47 Posted October 8 still moving along. All tach o matics are on now. I’m grinding away at the hood, rear fender and seat pan hoping to paint them all before the cold winter sets in here in New Hampshire. The fender really needs some filler and the seats pan is worse than I thought with multiple cracks requiring some welding. I have the engine on the bench and so far so good (I think!) the valves look pretty grimed up so with any luck I can clean them along with the seats. Then hopefully just install new gaskets and roll with it. It did run without issue before I started this project. Let me know if something stands out though! my daughter loves going for a ride with me on our lousy green mower but when she sees the raider she says “the ride!” so it’s nice to know this is actually starting to look like something! 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
