Work Horse GT1600 restoration and conversion to Hydro

Left side cover ready to install.

 

Speed nuts clipped onto left side cover.

 

Rubber plug in side cover hole.

This cover is from a 520 with the parking brake in the side cover.

 

Tape lines laid out then the opei decal applied.

 

Speed nut clipped onto left foot rest.

 

Left side cover installed with just the front bolt and bottom screw loose.

Right side cover ready to install.

 

Speed nuts clipped onto right side cover and right foot rest.

 

Carriage bolt and push nut installed into belt guard bracket that is up by the engine.

 

Right side cover installed with just the bracket nut and foot rest screw loose.

Shift cover plate ready to install.

You will notice a small indent, this is for hydraulic valve handle clearance as it would contact the plate when pulled fully back.

 

Shift cover plate installed.

 

Left side cover fully installed and tightened.

 

Right side cover fully installed and tightened.

When I ordered the decals from Terry, I asked him not to send the big TRANSAXLE decal that goes under the seat.

Therefor my tractor looks like this.

 

And not like this.

 

Nothing wrong with that decal, I just decided not to use it.

OK guys, I need your help.

I had Terry make me up a custom ID tag for this machine and he sent two with different fonts.

Which one should I use ?

The solid is definitely easier to read but is one actually correct ?

I think my original tractors have the non solid. I would have to check to be sure.

On the gray GT series that decal goes on the hood stand near the PTO lever, not the fender.

Yes, mine was there as well.

Totally blank but there.

I like it better on the fender though so that is where mine will go.

Getting ready to apply the decals.

Terry made this custom decal kit for me.

 

First, the painted surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and de-greased for best adhesion.

The painted surface and back of decal is sprayed with this mixture of distilled water with a couple drops of dish soap so decal can be moved around before final placement.

 

Once I am happy with the decals placement and absence of bubbles and wrinkles then I squeegee the water out using this piece of teflon wrapped in a heavy duty paper towel.

Center of rear fender marked on a piece of masking tape.

 

Center of rear decal also marked with masking tape.

 

Rear fender cleaned and sprayed with water mixture then decal applied lining up centerline marks

 

Decal squeegeed and fully applied.

One more vote for all you Work or Wheel Horse experts.

Should I use the period correct "TWIN' decal or slightly newer "HYDRO" decal.

Keeping in mind the hood decal already says HYDRO.

This is the ID tag on my 1988 312-8

 

Now I really don't know which one to use.
