Looking at this tractor any ideas on model. I

Definitely a 1960 Suburban. 400 and 550 are the same tractor except for the engine and 550 has the electric start stuff

The rear tires on that Suburban are an option that very few people selected so they are quite scarce.                         You have the correct foot rests and the exhaust pipe cover too,

If it has the belt guard it is. Probably so even without it too. But I don't know the availability of those down in WV but would guess they're more rare down there compared to some other areas.

Ditch the preditor engine anyway and find a Kohler K91. It'll look much better IMO

It's also missing the throttle/choke controls and the the cover for them which was the model serial # tag. Those parts would have been located in that square hole below the steering wheel.

Front rims are probably rotted because they were filled with calcium from the factory which eats them.

Gas tank is still there but hopefully good. Rust can be cleaned out by filling it with vinegar. If the rust goes all the way through the vinegar will eat it and leak out.

Decided to buy this WH. 500 without engine. It has a drive belt but its not the back one. Gentleman is even meeting me half way for pickup. Think It'll fit in bed of shortbed Tacoma. Know theyre small but that small

Yes, it will fit, they fit horizontal through the side door into my Chev cargo van

Share some pics when you get it and ask away for any questions. We'll help you with getting it squared away.

What are your plans for it? Run it like it is but mechanical fixes, full blown restore?

Definitely going to paint it but I'll use it so not going overboard with cosmetic looks.  Guy says deck was rebuilt but never used after rebuild.  I am going to use it to mow so hopefully I can get that working.  He said something about pulley not being there to run mower deck. Plan on trying to find k91 for it and trying to find thottle/choke assembly for it and rear belt plate.

To each their own, but I don’t think it needs any paint, it’s perfect the way it is   Maybe a wet sand and clear coat of your choice, or some boiled linseed oil.

I could possibly go that route. My B100 I left as I got it and just did boiled linseed.

IMO if it's already been painted before then paint it, if it's original paint then leaving it alone is typically the best option. A real proper paint job with ALL the prep work done right can add a little value but a horrible rattle can job can definitely lower it's value. Most look for original patina paint now. just $0.02.

But everyone has their own preference so there is no wrong either way.

Here it is. Metal is in good shape with no real dents. Front rims are gone. Rear should be okay with sandblasting. It shifts good. Gas tank looks really good inside. Missing a pulley and the foot bracket for mower is broke. 

 

Just need to find k91 and look for a rear belt guard.  Need to make something for throttle/cable setup. And it doesnt steer think a linkage is missing underneath

Those front rims are only used on the RJ and Suburban. The inner bearing hum is longer than on other WH front rims. 
 

Show us some pictures of the rims. Some can be saved with welding or fiberglass

@Cjwv1975 If you have your own San blaster it’s work a shot to see what under the scale. That 2nd one looks salable. But it just depends what the inside looks like.

I dont have a sandblaster but maybe Ill get one now lol. Thanks.
