JimSraj 338 #1 Posted February 25 Can anyone tell me if the 06-44SC01 and the 79361 are the exact same snowblower, the 79361 being just an updated number? The chart shows the 06-44SC01 as the original two stage for a 310-8 and the 79361 as ‘current model available’. If they are not identical, is there a difference in the way they mount or operate? Thanks in advance.
lynnmor 6,796 #2 Posted February 25 They are the same. The Toro models were painted New Red.

JimSraj 338 #4 Posted March 1 Thanks for the list. I’d really like a 2 stage but lately been wondering if the 79361 might be too heavy a blower for my 310-8.

Lift assist spring is almost mandatory, and you'll wish you had hydraulics. Some big ol' weights on the rear if you expect it to move with the blower lifted, and you'll wish for gear reduction steering. Personally, I'd consider 314-H about minimum tractor for the two stage, in order to get hydraulic lift and 8" front wheels. The 520-H's with gear reduction steering really shine for this application. I wouldn't use the 79361 on a 310-8, they are too heavy and demand more horsepower. In the last heavy and wet snow my 20 HP Onan was giving all it had. I also have a single stage and it is just fine for your tractor.
JimSraj 338 #7 Posted March 2 How does the single state perform with heavy, wet snow with a 10 hp driving it?
ML3 855 #8 Posted March 2 4 hours ago, JimSraj said: How does the single state perform with heavy, wet snow with a 10 hp driving it? I have a single stage on a C105. It struggles with heavy, wet snow at times but most anything single stage will. I've done all the suggested adjustments & lubing to make some improvements. Seems like keeping auger loaded combined with the right ground speed works..... Definitely wide open throttle! Weight is needed. I have rear wheel weights & another 120lbs on hitch. I don't use chains because i have a new cement driveway. Admittedly my original turf tires should be upgraded. This winter has been extremely mild, like the last couple years. Typically we get lots of "lake effect" snow events which can drop over a foot of snow. I been starting to look for a 2stage setup because I know one of these winters I'm gonna need it. Also I injured my back so the manual lift on my C105 is difficult. I really need hydro lift. Attached video we had gotten about 6-8" of heavy, wet snow. As you can see it did fine- definitely better than me shoveling! I usually just plow with my 654 as it does great. Again....during a typical winter with more snow I run out of room to push snow so a blower is needed. 32f97bf7e3955620f888517ca6cfea1f3f5fccd4.mp4
peter lena 8,072 #9 Posted March 2 @ML3 looks like blade snow to me , live right on the edge of that type of snow / rain line . more often than not , go right to the dozer blade set up , also lubricate the face of a dozer blade for easy release and slide off , also have a walk behind blower , so I can start moving it before it freezes . another thing I do is to plow / move snow to the sun angle zone . letting the sun assist in melting to corner drains , we all have different set ups . learn from every clearing , pete
JimSraj 338 #10 Posted March 3 Since I’d rather have a2 stage I’m thinking I may need to just get a more powerful tractor and keep the 310-8 as a mower. That’s about as good an excuse as any, right?
