I just replaced the lining on my PTO and would like to know the proper way to adjust the engagement. Thanks

On what tractor?

Most WH tractors have a manual PTO that is adjusted by turning the trunnion just above it.  The correct adjustment would be just tight enough that it will not slip, for example a snowblower may need a rather firm adjustment.

Manual PTO. Just checking if there was a proper clearance spec between the bell and the lining. I know it's .012 for the brake.

No, just adjust for a firm push.

The lever shouldn't end up hard to push because there's quite a bit of mechanical leverage pushing on that plate. It should feel snug right before it cams over to lock in place.
