rick 255 #1 Posted January 12, 2024 Does anyone know if 414-8 front wheels fit on a C100 spindle. I have the complete chassis and transaxle if I need to switch anything else. Thank you!
ebinmaine 72,370 #2 Posted January 12, 2024 There's a pretty fair chance that the wheel from a 414 could be a fair amount wider across the top than an early c100 or other C Series. The center part of the Hub however, might go on just fine. Good news is, if it doesn't quite work you can just pop the spindle off the 414 and put the whole thing on the C Series.
ebinmaine 72,370 #3 Posted January 12, 2024 If you can choose a spindle that does NOT have a c-clip to retain the wheel, that's the way I would go.
rick 255 #4 Posted January 13, 2024 Thanks, @ebinmaine I thought the same thing about the wheels and spindles since the reason for the change over is to get fresh modern rubber on front of the C100.
kpinnc 14,569 #5 Posted January 13, 2024 So long as the spindles are wider than the wheels, you can put 3/4 washers behind the wheel to shore up the difference.
rick 255 #6 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) Thanks to all. We will have to wait and see after I dig out the C100 from the shed. I'm in no big hurry since I have a Troy-Bilt Pony coming in for leaking wheel seals plus whatever shows up on closer inspection. I love the smell of 90W gear oil, NOT! sjoemie himself 3,099 #10 Posted January 15, 2024 Try opening a frontwheel hub filled with 80W90 oil that's been pressurized by the hot weather resulting in an oil shower.. been there, done that
