Bought a used Rear end from a man changed out mine I did not have reverse. This newer rearend I had reverse and slowly went away giving up hope of having a plow tractor this winter it did have ATF in it I drained it and put 10W30. That's what my tractor was running before the rear end died I broke a bolt in it and had nothing but troubles after I replaced the bolt and some bearings inside flushed it out still didn't have reverse took that rear end out put in a newer rear end or another rear end drained the ATF out and filled it with 10w30 had reverse for about 4 or 5 minutes good strong forward gear but no reverse now.

Are you sure that you have full movement of the forward/reverse valve on the tranny? Might be a linkage issue?

Download the Sunstrand Manual

  Diagnostic chart

Charge pump check Valves are in the pump.  replacing the transaxle and  hydro motor won't address that issue.
