Kohler K532 Dipstick Tube Removal & Exhaust Bolts

Recommended Posts

I am starting a tear down of a K532. It seems that the dipstick tube is stuck. I believe it is friction fit as I cannot see a set screw. I tried vise-grips to attempt to get it to break loose, but I was reluctant to try too hard to avoid damage. Any tips on removing it?

The exhaust bolts are stuck as well. Rather than breaking them and drilling them out, I was thinking about using a torch after removing the head. I figure it should not damage anything as the block is iron. Perhaps overdoing it could do something to the valves or springs. Any thoughts?

I may have answered my own question about the dipstick tube. I found an ebay listing of a tube like mine. The photo shows that the end is threaded.

I broke the the tab off the block the exhaust bolted to.  Take you time use lots of juice.  I had to fashion a J bolt to hold the exhaust.
