The rear tires have rotted to the point that the tubes bulge out of rotted holes in the tires. The original Goodyear 8–15 tires are NLA. I’ve decide to go with the Carslile 8-15 Farm Specialist R1 ag lug tires. On our Wheel Horses I think it looks good to paint the rims white or black and keep the tractor original. But I’m on the fence about painting the rims the Case Flambeau Red or leaving them original. Maybe wire brush clean the inside of the rim and clear coat it to preserve it some. ebinmaine 63,303 #2 Posted September 19, 2023 There's something attractive about an older tractor with good original partial paint on most of the frame and sheet metal that has nice fresh painted wheels and a new seat. Note I did NOT write "patina" which is often confused with or excused by a coat of rust. I know "it's only original once". But..... Yours does have a great matching overall appearance. Was it me ... WHX?? 46,902 #4 Posted September 19, 2023 If you don't plan on a resto I would just clean them up and use your prefered patina saver. Especially if they have never been messed with. Achto 26,610 #5 Posted September 20, 2023 I vote - clean the inside of the rim up as clean as possible, a coat or 2 of self etching primer on the inside, then a coat or 2 of any color paint. This will protect the rim on the inside, ensure that the tire bead seats well & keep rust from puncturing a tube. As you can see in the picture the side of the lugs has indentations in them like some of the cheaper foreign tires. It also has a raised design in the lug are on one picture but noth the other. The fine print in the ad says tread patterns may differ from shown in picture. They looked fairly good tread wise I sure need some tires, and there are not a lot of 8-16 or 9.5-16 tires out there that look similar to the original 1965 Goodyear Super Sure Grip Tractor tire. I wish the Carslile Super Lug tires came in a 16" tire. Anybody got a good used 8-16 Goodyear Super Sure Grip Tractor tire? I have one bad one and one fair one.
