moe1965 723 #1 Posted September 12, 2023 This is a new to me tractor that I received in a two package deal. I'm more into the older models so this hitch is new to me. It's on a 1990 toro wheel horse classic 312-8. Is it used to raise and w lower attachments in the back. I'm not quite understanding the three slots cut out. Just curious and always wanted to learn. squonk 39,032 #2 Posted September 12, 2023 The slots are for a chain you would hook to a tiller to lift it.

Handy Don 10,673 #4 Posted September 13, 2023 Use the lower slot for lighter implement that or one that needs a lot of movement to lift--the upper for heavier or less movement. This is called a rock shaft and it gives an adjustable-length chain a wider angle to extend directly back to the implement (sleeve hitch, slot hitch, tiller, etc.) while letting the cable to the mid-tractor lift mechanism remain straight and fixed length.
