moe1965 766 #1 Posted August 30, 2023 I saw a cleaning company throwing out everything at a abandoned house and new the owner mowed with a wheel horse tractor so I stopped to see if it was still there. They said yes and it was going to get scrapped along with another one. I offered 50 bucks for a running but in rough shape b100 auto and a toro wheel horse classic which doesn't look like it has run in a long time along with a snow blade and chains some times it payed to stop and ask 8

peter lena 9,281 #8 Posted August 30, 2023 @moe1965 nice score , your initial look see is vital , see what you have , what works / doesn't , do not say you are going to " restore them " , often just adds to the confusion / overwhelming , things to do . would rather have a solid runner , than a show queen any day. electrical first , lubrication refresh , fuel system cleanout , personally would do an engine run in , gently get it going , idle run time , how is it working? my first oil change always has added rislone Zink to the rotella #30 , that has been a very helpful run in oil set up , cleans out the crud , cuts the varnish , get a few hours on that , starts to run easier , drop carb bowls , clean out , new fuel filters . aerosol lubrication on every " movement " area , make the rust run out . have any alligator clip test wires ? jump over corrosion / frayed / cracked wires . done this many times . these are only personal views / the way I do it , dood luck with it , pete
