Duromax or Predator?

Recommended Posts

Crazy Horse Garage

Of the two, which would you prefer and why? I just installed an 18 h.p. Duromax on my C-101. Was gonna try a Predator on my Raider 12. New Kohlers are apparently now made of gold. Thanks

Personally I prefer predator because I feel they look closer to original although they lack the power

Your tractor, therefore, your choice.

Of course there is the horsepower rule  'if some is good, more is better, and too much is just right'.

Nope. Aerospace plastic. Seriously- check out the cams.

I hear good things about Duromax, but can't speak for them personally. I think Predators have a following with some aftermarket stuff out there.

Good luck either way.

Predator, Duromax, both are Honda clones. I have ran both, didn't really see much difference.

Not sure on those motors however I just purchased a new predator 9500 generator. Runs great and has tons of power for the camper. It has a 15hp motor

This one is about 250lbs and makes the 3000 watt honda look small

I’m just blown away that they can brand it Duromax, and GM/Duramax hasn’t gone after them…

Same here.
They'll work perfectly fine for a few hundred hours and then when something fails, just get whatever flavor is on sale to replace it.

Ive done 5 tractors with Predator engines and have used them as workers around the house and one as a plow mule with a 301cc Predator. These were/are tractors that were either rollers or had engines not worth rebuilding. The Predators are always in stock at Harbor Freight and there is a large after market parts availability plus info on various other forums. To the best of my knowledge, the Duromaxs are online only from Max Tool in California? Id stay with the Predator.

I gotta say, the Predator 459 cc is a torque beast.

I ordered mine online and went to service desk. I have never seen those engines either. It was at another store, had to wait a couple days. Harbor Freight has all the Predator line in stock.
