C105 10 hp Kohler running funky

Recommended Posts

Started getting the C105 ready for snow plow duty and she's running a bit wonky...seems to be surging and a slight intermittent backfire... thoughts?

Fuel. I would be curious as to how long it's been sitting and what the fuel looks like. Drop the bowl and have a look. I don't see the fuel filter. That's a long run for fuel line so if it hasn't been replaced in a while, consider that along with moving the filter as close to the carb as reasonably possible. You might need to do a cleaning on that carb.

Rec fuel. No ethanol. Purchased couple months ago. Used it all last winter to push snow and was in the Memorial Day Parade couple weeks ago...

Fuel line / filter was replaced about a year ago.

@ineedanother Thanks for the input. will check those out.

Well, there you have it, probably. Likely something hung up in your main jet :disgust:

Glad you can get rec90. I live in a county of more than 325,000 and there's not a single source for non-ethanol.

Just cleaned it up and purrs like kitten. Few shots of carb clean after to get the cob webs out.

Gonna change the filter too. It's just above my marine bulb...

Thanks for the help.

Try to locate a lake or river with boat traffic and check gas stations near there. That is usually where you can find the non-ethanol.

Might be worth a drive with some jerry cans.

Or - businesses that cater to high performance or offroad only vehicles. That is what we have here in RI....

Randy, cross the border into Chatham County. I buy my 90 octane Non Eth at either or the Refuels on 15-501 just North of Pittsboro.

Good to know. That's not far from the house and I go through there quite a bit. Thanks Van
