How do I determine what transmission is in my C-165 8 speed and my 656 3 speed?

 

is there numbers stamped on them? If so where?

656 will have a 5053 and the 165 is a 103918 8 spd. That is of course that no previous owner changed anything

Ok I looked at this list. The 80,81 c-165 models has the 103918 and the 84, which I think is mine has the 103916. How do I tell which one i have ?
