perry 82 #3 Posted August 9, 2009 08/08/2009 4:14 AM Hail Storm Pounds Sturgis Rally Bikers and homeowners in Sturgis will be spending this final weekend of the rally cleaning up from a Friday night storm. Golf ball to baseball sized hail, and a possible tornado turned a campground and R-V park into a war zone. The hail damaged several vehicles bad enough that they had to be towed. The storm was heading past Sturgis but at the last minute swung north and that's when the tornado sirens sounded, warning everyone to take cover. Emergency management had extra staffing at the fire department and ambulance service because of the rally, so they were able to respond quickly to people who needed help in the storm. Officials say there were a handful of minor injuries, and at least one report of a downed tree on top of a house. Several small fires were started because of lightening strikes, but no serious damage.

C-Series14 15 #5 Posted August 9, 2009 Yea, I guess we did! Actually, last year, we headed NW into Montana and stopped at a bar in Alzada. Then headed south into Wyoming headed to Devil's Tower and other watering holes. Well, on the way back to Spearfish, basically the same thing happened...one of the guys with a bagger and weather radio said storms are a coming, with hail!!!! Well, that was the fastest I ever drove back to the house!!! We pulled into the garage and 10 minutes later, it let loose. Never seen clouds like we saw before or since, it was scary!!!
