I'm of the mindset that when lifting pulling tying down holding up strapping down etc....

Go big.

Period.

But ....

I do realize the machine and your human body will have its limits.

I've somehow inherited collected added on gotten ahold of some various sizes of cable and chains over the years.

To go out and buy it...?

Carefully processing what you want to do today and doubling that amount might be reasonable.

Length? At least 2 or 3 sections of 10 foot chain.

Too long can be a PITA. Short pieces can be coupled.

Strength.....I dunno quite how to answer that.

Something rated to pull a pickup truck with your tractor might be about right.

Grade 43 is good for what these tractors do and general use. I use 5/16" in grade 30 which is rated at 1900 lbs. More that what the tractor will do fer sure. You'll want to weld some 3/8" grab hooks on the top of the bucket.

That's not a bad price on HF chain ... it really went up like everything else.

Great!  I was just looking at 3/8" grade 80 10' lengths for $47.  I'll downgrade my search requirements, and add a couple of (hopefully non-zinc plated) clevis hooks for the bucket.

FYI, I am selling the grader and the mower deck.  Photos in my "fair pricing for implements?" thread under implements & attachments.
