312-8 wiring simplified & fuel pump

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

Here is my presentation topic > https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/93393-hi-from-france/

I'm having a hard time making my 86' 312-8 work properly.

Both electrical harness and fuel pump are faulty.

Problem is that I don't know which electrical part is faulty and unfortunately I don't have time to troubleshoot.

Therefore I have decided to redo the wiring completely and install a low pressure Facet 40177 fuel pump.

First, the simplified wiring :

Attached is the original wiring diagram for my 1986 year model, modified to delete all safety switches.

Red is the battery circuit ; Yellow is the ignition circuit ; Purple is the start circuit ; Grey is the rectifier circuit.

Is it correct ? Can I remove the relay in the start circuit or is it mandatory ?

Second, the fuel pump :

Shall I power the fuel pump from the ignition circuit ? Is a relay mandatory ?

Only I know for now is that I will add a 3Amp fuse.

Averall, are 15 / 16 awg cables big enough ?

Thank you so much for your help !

It is the informal policy of Red Square to discourage the elimination of safety switches. Safety switches may seem confusing while troubleshooting but they are there to avoid injury and death.

What you do with your own tractor is your business, of course.
