RED-Z06 2,491 #1 Posted March 11, 2023 (edited) Picked up a tractor with a Linamar Replacement engine with one of those pumper carbs, have never really messed with them...but what an awful unit. It runs fat at start up, then clears up...over fuels down low, then gets a blast of fuel on acceleration...as if these things didnt already have a drinking problem. Purrs over 2200 rpms...runs perfectly. Edited March 13, 2023 by RED-Z06
lynnmor 7,635 #2 Posted March 11, 2023 It is possible that the pump is bad, onanparts has them.. Yes, they are a PITA much like the wonderful gas cans that are forced on us.

I keep gas in a shed far away from my shop because grinding and welding, i keep the main caps tight and barely crack the vents, they've done great. Now if they'll be in the sun...yeah you better open those vents or youll have a nice balloon 🤣 Its nice being able to dump 5 gallons in a minute or less, love these things

RED-Z06 2,491 #9 Posted March 12, 2023 Looks like the price has shot up. 2021 i got 4 for $99 on Amazon then again 4 more a week later. They are a bit more now. I got a single spout, and put it on 1 lid, when I empty that can i just swap lids to the next full can.

RED-Z06 2,491 #11 Posted March 13, 2023 I need to clear something up on this...the carb wasn't the problem. This morning, after 2" of rain overnight, the onan would only run on 1 lung. Compression still 130 both sides, getting fuel, tried a new plug...but the problem was no spark. Tried a different plug wire...nada. i put in my spare coil...and just like that all the problems went away. What i felt was overfueling was actually spark blowout. 1 side of the coil was failing, and getting doused in water made the problem worse. As ive said before, if getting wet causes a problem, you already had a problem.
