Hydro dipstick length?

Could someone  please  verify  this is the correct  length obviously someone  else  put this in at some  point.  I usually make sure  the oil is up to the  o. In oil?

So a mid-70s Sundstrand transmission.

 

I can get a pic with length in an hour or two if somebody doesn't do it sooner.

 

You want to make sure this type of transmission is NOT overfilled per @daveoman1966 but I don't remember the technical reason.

Eric, is it possible Mark's Sundstrand has a riser pipe requiring the longer dip stick?      I don't have any Sundstrands left...only Eatons in my barn.

There are three different Sundstrand models.   I don't remember if they had different length dips.

I just noticed,  the C-160 used both the Sundstrand 1140 and the 1137.    I'm not sure if they have different length dips.

Definitely a possibility.  

 

Mine has a riser... But... I can't prove it's original or correct.  

It seems to be about the right set-up.

My riser  looks very much  original.  

Is there an obvious way to tell between  three different transmissions

The tow/ bypass valves are located at three different locations.  One is a slotted screwdriver slot in front of the left fender.  One is a petcock like valve on the top left center of the transmission.   One is a hex head bolt on the left rear back of the transmission.   I'm not sure what number goes with the valve location.

@daveoman1966    probably has this info.

Without  removing  fenders or top covers I can not  see a relief  valve  so I'm sure  it's some sort of bolt or something hidden?

Might be a bit tough to see but you shouldn't need to remove any sheet metal.  

 

Can you please post pics of your tractor so we can see what you're seeing?

This may help to ID the different Sundstrand hydro models.       The C-160 should have a 90-1140 unless it was replaced.    The tow valve should be as shown in the picture.
