Butch 194 #1 Posted July 19, 2009 Is it me or has the Dukester fallen off his average of 86 daily posts? Maybe that's what the Doctor ordered! I guess he could be out buying a new wardrobe for next years show. I guess he could have taken his tractor to Charlies to work on it. But it sure seems quieter than normal around here. Butch S. HorseFixer 2,013 #5 Posted July 19, 2009 Well I'm not far away! I did go back to work this last week after a 2 1/2 month furlo after the stroke. Why the Dr. wanted me off that long but as he said to me "You worry about fixin tractors, and leave the Dr'ing to me." Ooooooookay anyways it has been a busy week back getting caught up. So thats the whole thing in the nutshell, I have been getting back to work and getting back into swing of things. The time off was great, but it came at a price. I was lucky to escape and rebound as well as I did. Durring this time I had a good indication on what retirement feels like, and I have to say I like it! I think that work is way over rated and I have better things to do with my time! :thumbs2:
Red Iron 1 #6 Posted July 19, 2009 On a hunch, if the Duke likes Billy Squires, well, the local festival here is hosting him at Venetian festival in St Joseph, MI this weekend. or he's trying to patent his blood color as WheelHorse Red. Just my guess :thumbs2:

Suburban 550 28 #8 Posted July 19, 2009 Duke, good to see you back in the swing of things. Retirement is lookin' good but I still have a couple years to go. We all can't be as lucky as Butch.
Butch 194 #9 Posted July 20, 2009 Well Duke glad you're doing well. Glad to see you weren't out buyin more of those yuppie shirts. Retirement is what you make of it. It depends on how well you liked your job also. Some love being retired and some get bored. I look at it this way. A rainy day in retirement is much better than a sunny day at work! Take work a day at a time and stay relaxed. When ya getted bummed out at work look at people that have it worse than you. Never dwell about the people that have it better. Then you'll appreciate what you have which will make you happier. Don't get stressed about your tractors either. I'm sure Charlie can take care of them for ya! Tell MJ I said hello! Butch S. bustedglass 1 #12 Posted July 20, 2009 Been retired for the last 5 years. I am now 58, and love every day of it. You see, retirement started for me with FIVE (5) Heart Attacks, open heart surgery consisting of a triple by-pass and a valve replacement. Doctor told my wife on TWO seperate occasions, that I probably would not make it . But, here I am 5 years later, retired, and LOVIN' it ..... Retirement for me has a special meaning. It means that I get to see my 2 little Grandsons, one 3 years old, and one 5 years old, and showing them how much fun it is to ride on Grandpas' little red tractor . Your post was WELL said Butch, and I just want to add to you Duke, and to all of you other up-coming retirees', when you finally get there, enjoy each day to it's fullest, and remember, LONG LIVE THE HORSE - WHEEL HORSE OF COURSE .....
