Sled Man 15 #1 Posted November 6, 2022 I replaced the carb on my K181 with a Carter #16 but the air filter housing doesn’t work. Any idea where I can get one to fit the new carb? If not I can make the old one work with some welding and drilling.
Achto 29,388 #2 Posted November 6, 2022 That looks like the 3 screw pattern used on the big block carbs. Does your old base use the two hole mounting base with the extra mounting bracket off the back?
Sled Man 15 #3 Posted November 6, 2022 Here is the old housing. Basically the openning is too big so I found a washer I can use as a spacer/filler.

That looks like a housing for the large block kohlers. You certainly can make it work with a spacer washer. i sugest you make a gasket for both sides of the washer to seal it. Also that larger hole in the lower left side of the plate is for a hose that some engines have going back to the breather cover (early emissions control) . If you are not using that hose I suggest you fill fill that hole as it would allow air to bypass the filter and allow dirty air to be sucked directly into the engine.
