Grass chute rot

Recommended Posts

Need to do something about this. High-end, 22 HP lawn tractor. Grass-catching ability determined by a plate less than 1 mm thick, exposed to sticky wet grass on three sides, as well as top and bottom. Designed for failure?

@Lman how easy is it to drop / remove that deck ?  have any access to thin stainless steel sheeting ?  to make a similar  fit ;/  size piece . something I  regularly do is to break the grunge cycle , on mower decks . in addition to cleaning out the deck , give it some angular hot sun dry out time , then oil spray and soak in . my decks are all off now, cleaned oil soaked / lubed for spring , you have to stop the rot cycle ,  or adjust your cutting routine , only a suggestion pete

More like designed to maximize profit.

High end machines on this end of the pond usually start out at 3mm+ thickness.

I have seen now some of the steel used in machines is very poor quality. Goes away quick.
