victorb 46 #1 Posted October 11, 2022 Hi - I picked up this 520H a couple of weeks ago and joined this WH Forum site the same day but have not had a chance to post anything until now. I got this 1994 520H along with 60" deck, 2 stage snow blower and a mid mount grading blade as part of package deal. I wish I took a picture of it all loaded onto my 5x8 utility trailer. It runs good and so far I only know that it just needs some work on the lights and new seat bracket (already have it to install). As I get more into this I am sure I will be back with questions. 5 3
8ntruck 7,864 #2 Posted October 11, 2022 Nice tractor with a good selection of attachments. to the forum. Good bunch of folks here. Combined, the people here have probably broken and fixed just about anything on a Wheel Horse that can be broken and fixed. The best part is that they are willing to share their knowledge to help others with their tractors.
23 Reo 229 #4 Posted October 12, 2022 Nice tractor. You'll love using your attachments. Welcome to the club and know that it's OK to have more than one Wheel Horse.
Handy Don 14,113 #6 Posted October 12, 2022 Welcome, Victor. We have a few members up and down the Hudson Valley though I've yet to lay eyes on any of them! I like your avatar of the Victorinox knife with a ridiculous number of functions. WHs are not quite that versatile.
lynnmor 7,847 #7 Posted October 12, 2022 Took a quick look and saw a few things: Hood is down on muffler, possible bad hood hinge. Don’t see hood hold downs. PTO hoop appears to be missing the part at the center. Battery cable inside PTO hoop. Trunion on PTO clutch up side down. Just think how we can pick it apart with more photos.

Red-Bovine 334 #9 Posted October 12, 2022 Welcome! We have a 1992 520H purchased new. It has served us well. We had a mid grader blade but sold it after it served the purpose for us. Still have the 44" blower and 48" mower deck. It was repowered with a Honda V2 and is now our designated snow machine with Original Cab.
ReelFaster 53 #10 Posted October 12, 2022 Welcome and great looking WH, congrats. Looking to pickup a heat shield for the muffler like yours has.
victorb 46 #11 Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) Thanks everyone. This is not only my first Wheel Horse but also my first tractor. I have been using a Scag 36" walk-behind on my 3/4 of acre of mow-able lawn. I saw the deck working on this tractor before I purchased it but I will not wrestle with getting that back on until next spring. I will keep using the Scag for mowing the rest of this fall. After fixing the seat mount and looking at the things that lynnmor had pointed out, I will then try to get the snowblower on and ready for duty this winter. I will try to update more photos once I get the blower attachment on. 23 Reo - I have already been keeping my eyes open in case I see too good of a deal to pass on for another wheel horse . Red-Bovine - I love your cab. My main reason for purchasing this 520H was to handle my driveway in the winter. My plow guy retired and will give it a try a myself this year. I was originally looking for tractor with plow but this deal seemed pretty good. I may still try to get a snow plow as a backup (could be my good excuse for getting a second red tractor ). cleat 7,263 #12 Posted October 12, 2022 Putting on the two stage blower is a bit of a challenge. Do you have the manual for it ? The owners manual goes step by step on the installation process.

I will try to update more photos once I get the blower attachment on. Before you put the snowblower on, jack up the tractor front by the hitch and check the wheel bearings. While jacked up, check the bolt for the axle pivot pin and then grease all fittings. Jacking allows the axle to hang free allowing grease to flush out areas that would otherwise be tight. You can find an Owners Manual for both the tractor and the snowblower in the Manuals section.

victorb 46 #15 Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) I got the seat bracket replaced today so I can sit more securely while riding. I did not get too much else done today but I was able to at least check the muffler shield and discovered that it is touching the hood because it is not fastened to the top of the muffler. I will need to drill-out a rusted broken stud and then re-fasten. Should be easy fix next time I can get out to it. Red-Bovine 334 #16 Posted October 13, 2022 Thank you! I think I may have purchased the last new cab from "Original Cabs" for a 3-4-500 series tractor. You may find a used one, though. I think you will like the two stage blower. We have always liked ours.
