Wild Bill in VA 1,548 #1 Posted September 19, 2022 I found some pictures of my 753 set up with the SGM-603. Note the swivel joints where the reel mowers connect to the arms and rear hitch. Wild Bill in Richmond VA 2 13
Darrenw85 697 #2 Posted September 19, 2022 I've never seen that setup before. Thanks for sharing Bill.
c-series don 11,759 #3 Posted September 19, 2022 @Wild Bill in VA I don’t honestly ever recall seeing one of those in person, even at the big show. I’d love to see one in original shape or restored. I have what I think is a pretty nice lawn and I’d love to mow it with that setup. I have the original brochure that goes with it!

Pullstart 69,479 #5 Posted September 19, 2022 Amazing! 7 hp, a little overkill isn’t that? I imagine there is some overlap between the inside of the front two and the ends of the rear one? How wide is each mower?

How well do mowers like this perform? Seems to me these are only suited for trimming a billiard-like lawn without to many low spots and/or tall grass?
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,296 #8 Posted September 19, 2022 Copied this pic from the 2012 North central wheel horse show picture thread . The owner of this tractor, Joe Nelson..aka @joebob let me try it out in some actual grass…and I must say it did a relatively good job cutting. 1

Toro still sells lots of them to estates and golf courses! I’ve used both hand-powered (what a workout) and walk-behind powered (lots of maintenance) single wide reel mowers and I’ll take a rotary any day!
8ntruck 8,712 #12 Posted 6 hours ago I was using a push type reel mower on my lawn in Mo. Once, a couple teen ages came walking down the street while I was mowing. As they passed, one said to the other "oh, it's a lawn mower". I replied " yup, it runs on beer and cheeseburgers". 2

Don , I had a Wheel Horse front reel mower several years ago. It mowed vey nice on my yard which is generally pretty flat. But each turned the mower had to be lifted to properly start and cut on the next row! The gang reel mower is really for s much larger place with a big lawn or acreage! sold it to Denny Clarke sfter a yesr. Told Denny he would sell it sfter using it too! He did! Yep, gentle curves are possible but really they much prefer straight lines -- “plowing the lawn” my Gramps used to say. His was the power reel that I used and when he upgraded to a rotary, I got the reel mower and my Dad converted it into a go kart!
