312-H (Eaton 1100) Hard to Shift Out of Reverse
Jrblanke posted a topic in Transmissions and transaxles
Good morning everyone! I had my 312H out for the first time this past weekend and the more I drove it, the harder it was to get out of reverse. I added about a quart of oil before I started (was just barely on the dip stick before) and as I mowed, it got harder and harder to come out of reverse. If I barely put it in reverse (where I was moving slow) I could shift it out. But if I pulled the joy stick all the way back where I was moving quickly, I would have to either hit the brake, or slam it in forward in order to get it out of reverse. I am beginning to think it was linkage related, like maybe something is getting stuck when I put it all the way in reverse. Anyone had a similar issue? What is the fix? -
Hi All—recently picked up a “Toro Wheelhorse Classic” hydro w the kohler magnum 12 in it. Plow, snowblower and deck all for the best price--free. Prolly made in the early 90’s?? I got it running but have 2 small problems… First what model do I have? Its missing the id tag. It is hydrostatic transsaxle with the hydro deck lift. The transaxle does have a replaceable hydro filter up top next to the left rear tire. Im thinking it’s a 312H??? Second and most important… as usual the painted on Kohler ID tag is unreadable….. So I don’t have a model number and need to order a carb rebuild kit. How can I do this??? I believe the model is going to be K301S. Is that correct?? Im in search of a carb rebuild kit and so far eveyone says KH10696 is NLA. Appreciate any help on this. thanks dave

Hello. Post from a new member. I am having a problem with the trans drive belt on a 1990 312 H tractor. Using the original # 7473 Wheel Horse belt it appears to be too long. The crude picture I included shows where the belt is contacting itself where it passes beneath the tensioning idler. This is a fairly new belt and measures about 81 1/2 inches using a tape measure around the outside. Can't find specs on the official belt length but when crossed to other brands they call for a 5/8 X 82 inch belt. It appears I need something less than 81 inches. Has anyone run into this? I see no other way to route the belt.
