WHwest8597 85 #1 Posted October 20, 2016 The shed we have was build in 1982 and is a barn style with short side walls 12 x 16 in size. The shed needs to be replaced, and looking for some ideas. I know that if we go with a new shed, I would probably go with the barn style again, but what high sides this time. I don't want to go any bigger than 12 x16. Going smaller 10 x14 to avoid taxes is just loosing to much space. I have also considered adding on to our 24 x 32 garage. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 953 nut 51,721 #3 Posted October 20, 2016 Check with your insurance agent and building department to see if either option has an advantage. Building an addition can be a bit more difficult because you want everything to be the same height, color, roofing etc. so it won't stand out as being an "addition".

You get a nice view ( maybe depending on what your neighbor looks like! ) put some lawn chairs and grill on the roof. Pretend it's a NYC penthouse!
RedRanger 1,468 #9 Posted October 20, 2016 No building codes and no inspectors.....Add on to the garage!
JimD 3,345 #10 Posted October 21, 2016 The 12 x16 shed you have gives you 192 square feet of space. Adding on to the garage you can achieve the same floor space with a 6x32 addition. The cost of the addition will probably be higher with the foundation and floor materials and labor, etc, so it's really allup to you and your budget what you can do. Good luck and keep us up on your project.
