ACman 7,507 #1 Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) Well the little green men dropped me back off after they got through probing me ! The owner was a great guy holding it for me (even with my low bid) , said he had out of state horse thieves calling on it . I told him I just missed one out on one (520-8) but one of those Hoosiers beat me to it . The guy wouldn't hold it so after he pulled the ad I called him and told him what he had and it was really worth ! This guy knew what he had and knew he could sell it for more , but he couldn't let it sit outside anymore . I have to say , even though probably every rubber bit needs replacing , I'm happy ! This thing started right up with no hesitation , no smoke or odd noises . Heck it even mowed with no problems . There's a couple wiring issues , one being the temp light stays on (said it didn't do until he power washed it) , key switch , and neutral safety needs adjusting . It's super straight , all lights are intact , and the chrome hub caps have very little rust and a couple of dings . He had all the pully covers and a replacement deck wheel . Heck I think with some buffing the red paint and some Meguiar's ultimate black plastic restorer she'd shine right up . I'm glad I picked this one up . I'll try to get the serial # today so I can verify the year , It looks like it has the fan gears for steering ? She still on the trailer but I'll try to get some more pics maybe even a video if the son is home today . Hey almost forgot she only reading 533.9 hrs. and I'd believe it . So what do think , did I do the right thing ? Edited September 26, 2016 by ACman

So what's next on your list of Wheel Horse's to put in the Corral? You've already got a bigger herd than me LOL

I need to finish the shop and get snow removal team ready . I'm hoping the snowblower trade works out . This one deserves a second chance and would be nice to bring to the BIG SHOW next year all dolled up !
MalMac 1,328 #7 Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) The hood decals and dash says it's newer then a 90 so it should have steering reduction instead of fan gears. Looks around 94 vintage to me. Nice find. Edited September 26, 2016 by MalMac
k2wilson 41 #8 Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) Identical markings as my 97, but with the older steering wheel. I'm guessing it's a 96. Edited September 26, 2016 by k2wilson
DougC 2,641 #9 Posted September 26, 2016 Looks identical in every way to my '95 Jeff except you got the 60 inch deck and mine both have 48 inch decks. You guys are gonna love it!!!

ACman 7,507 #12 Posted September 26, 2016 Got the boy to take a pic . It's still on the trailer . What year is it ? Boy couldn't figure out how to start it up , but be assured it does.
Wishin4a416 2,186 #13 Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) 95. Starting with 93 or 39 you just turn the first 2 numbers in the serial around. Edited September 26, 2016 by Wishin4a416
ACman 7,507 #14 Posted September 26, 2016 Thanks Jack , I'll go through The manuals tonight . Maybe have my wiring guru come over after work tomorrow , he could have it sorted out pretty quick .
Ken B 3,116 #15 Posted September 27, 2016 Nice score, I think you did well. Some black paint on the front of the hood and with some buffing I think the red paint will come back and look presentable. I don't see any paint peeling or rust in the normal spots that they do so that is good. A heat gun or hair dryer will take the old decals off real easy. Toss on a new seat and some new floor mats and that 520 will be looking real nice real quick..

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,345 #21 Posted September 28, 2016 There was an engineless 520-H on our local Craig's List that I considered, but it's gone now. I thought about it, but I just don't have the tractor fund built up enough to justify buying a project tractor and then buying an engine to put in it. Yeah, it would be nice to have a 520, but not at this time. Maybe some day........
ACman 7,507 #22 Posted October 5, 2016 Ok my cousin and son went out tonight to see if they could start the 520H up . Well the key switch has come up missing somewhere in transit . Should I buy a good used original from a 88 ($15) or just get one from NAPA . If so does anyone know the NAPA part# .
WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #23 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) I did a new eBay switch for like $13 to the house this spring on the 236 hr 520 and good luck on your new project, BTW how many 520s you think you can stuff in to a 10x10 shelter logic shed in a box?...Jeff. ACman 7,507 #24 Posted October 5, 2016 @WVHillbilly520H my guess would be four without a snow thrower . I don't have a switch to go by , I need a switch with B terminal correct ?
