nylyon-(Admin) 7,120 #1 Posted October 12, 2015 There are SO many reasons this time of year is special. It's the time to transition from Summer Wheel Horses to Winter Duty. It is also the time when 2 major forum events happened.November 14, 2006 - RedSquare was started by whchris on a free service called Forumer, anyone remember whforum.15.forumer.comOctober 31, 2011 - We abruptly moved from Forumer to our current home. I often go back and look at the posts from those times and while RedSquare is so different today then it was then, there are STILL many of the same people here who helped make this what it is today. So at this important time of the year, as you get your machines ready for the new season, Thank You for being a member of RedSquare, it's been a heck of a ride and still going!
JC 1965 1,528 #2 Posted October 12, 2015 Thank you Karl and all you do to keep Red Square up and running Much appreciated !!
rmaynard 14,898 #3 Posted October 12, 2015 Thank you for taking the bull by the horns and rescuing the forum from disaster. As you said, the new forum is different in so many ways, but I still make it a part of my day. I have been around here since 2009, so I consider myself one of the survivors. We lost many members who for one reason or another never came back. They are missed, but so many new members continue to make this a fun place to hang out.As you may or may not know, I am undergoing major back surgery at the end of November, and the healing and recovery time is a long one. If I didn't have this forum to look forward to, I might just find myself going crazy. So once again,

nylyon-(Admin) 7,120 #5 Posted October 12, 2015 It was more dramatic at the time, but the post that Jason made is how the "original" forum sat for 3 months! We were fortunate to have "extracted" 90% of the data from Forumer before the BIG Crash when it became completely unavailable. Unfortunately we did lose things like Members passwords, e-mail addresses etc. It took YEARS to recover from that and in fact on occasion we still get someone requesting to have their pre-crash account reset.Bob, we'll be here cheering you on as you recover, don't worry about that!
Sparky-(Admin) 19,551 #6 Posted October 12, 2015 November 14, 2006 - RedSquare was started by whchris on a free service called Forumer, anyone remember whforum.15.forumer.com Thank You for being a member of RedSquare, it's been a heck of a ride and still going! I've been here since November 14, 2006 when Chris (whchris) called me and asked me to join his fledgling website. Karl is right when he says its been a heck of a ride!We have weathered a few snags like almost loosing the whole site, been threatened legal action by a few disgruntled past members, (I think one even informed one of our Moderators that they were gonna get an azz-kicking!). But all of us that run the site have followed a strict set of rules that we established and revisit from time to time and I think we have a very tightly run forum that anyone of any age or gender can feel comfortable visiting and participating in. This place is a great success!!Mike...........

neil 2,398 #13 Posted October 12, 2015 This year has been one of the toughest years of my life with the passing of my dear ole Mum ,Redsquare has been a sanctuary where I can visit and interact with a few mates that I have grown to be a big part of my every day life & sometimes I have probably said more to people on Redsquare in one day than I have spoken my wife .Although I haven't been as active on here as I have in recent months due to my mothers passing ,I still try to make my daily visits to read up on what you guys are up to . I hope to be a bit more active soon when things start to settle down here at home.dunno what I would do if anything happened to Redsquare ,great bunch of guys.
953 nut 51,720 #14 Posted October 12, 2015 Over the years I have lurked around other sites on a variety of topics and never been inclined to join. I talked with "Wild Bill" at the Florida Flywheeler's show a few years ago and he told me about Redsquare, it took a few weeks but finally checked it out. Posted a question and within an hour I had a couple of great answers, a manual download and a dozen or so welcomes. I was very impressed! I have been a regular here and I look at it as a "cyber, sitting around the shop shooting the bull meeting place". I can identify with Bob as far as the recuperation; the first four days following my spinal surgery I had no access to the internet and was having withdrawal syndrome! .Granted, I was getting some real gooood pain relievers, but I still missed it. Though I have only met a couple of the members in person I consider all of you to be good friends.Sparky, Karl and others who laid the foundation deserve a big from all of us.
