Eagle Nest

Yeah, another few weeks and they will start to jump from the nest to the tree limbs.  They are sitting dangerously close to the edge of the nest this morning.   Looks like someone projected some waste toward the camera and smeared up the lens.

Rabbit for lunch today.   Probably a welcome change from the fish.

Another woodchuck maybe...   :eusa-think:

watched one of the kids eating on it's own this morning, while Mom fed the other.

I see a small ear this morning that does look more like a woodchuck.

They are not the best looking birds at this stage of their development.

Reminds me of a pair of awkward teenagers.

I'm thinking the lens of the camera...

took a direct hit.     :scared-eek:

One thing I thought about at the very beginning (when I was looking into the tech they were using for this) is that they did have one system with a lens cleaner, but it required refilling, so I took a wild guess that thats not what they used here.

We need a windshield wiper!

:scratchead:   Is it just me...   :confusion-shrug:

or is there really a live sound feed coming through the speakers now?

HA! Sound is coming through loud and clear now.

Nothing better to fix sensitive electronics than a good blast of eaglet poop!

This stuff might be valuable...  :eusa-think:

Hey, check the cam.. we had a few showers this afternoon and I think it washed some of the poo off the lens.  They have lost the down and have all their black feathers.

Figuring I was watching the first to hatch...
testing it's wings, hovering over the nest today, was actually flying in place.
Won't be long before they are slipping the surly bonds of earth.

Woke up this morning...
to see them working on a turtle.
WT...eff? A living turtle, in a nest, on top of a tree?

Pretty crowded house this morning. Mom, dad, and both kids. They must have made short work of that turtle. Nest is pretty clean.

I was also thinking that food looked scarce this morning Bob.

Guess the early bird gets the turtle.   I missed it.

Yeah, I see his tail out there on a limb on the right.  I  haven't checked them since this morning...Too busy getting the Raider 14 running for Van.

That nest still looks skimpy on snacks.   I wonder if this is part of the parents plan to encourage them to leave the nest and feed themselves.

Just watched one legitimately fly...
from the farthest side of the nest, up and over the other one, landing on this side, facing the opposite direction.
Betcha they're not in the nest for very much longer.

Mom was mauled just now...
bringing what looks like a gosling into the nest.
Just a little Scooby snack before bedtime.
