Molon_Labe 731 #1 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Last week I was talking with Terry about decals for my 400 Suburban and he asked about the serial number. I told him there was just a rusty plate where the serial number should be. After the call I decided to take another look at the rusty plate so I removed it from the tractor and put it under a lighted magnifier. There were numbers stamped in the rust and pitting along with choke throttle and shift pattern! I can make out 5 digits starting with 23. Does that sound right? Below is what I have to work with.. Geno 1,928 #4 Posted September 18, 2014 Have you tried rubbing a black marker over it lightly, without filling in the low spots to see if you can see more of it?
Molon_Labe 731 #5 Posted September 18, 2014 Have you tried rubbing a black marker over it lightly, without filling in the low spots to see if you can see more of it? Geno, as a matter of fact I used Birchwood Casey gloss black gun touch up paint on it to pull the numbers out. Turned out to be serial # 23443.
Racinbob 10,277 #6 Posted September 18, 2014 I was going to suggest the little modification Terry did for me on the decal but you did better by pulling out the serial number.
