Introduction and the start of my restoration!

got the main side panel painted and the decal installed.  the idler (tensioning) pulley makes contact with the cover panel.  It seems there's not even enough room there for the bolt head.  Am I doing something wrong here?

my buddy turned down the exhaust pipes in the lathe to get rid of the "bark".  thanks mark!

 

 

the bolt head for the idler pulley was rubbing on the belt guard, so mark turned down the bolt in the lathe as well

got all the wiring done, everything was heat shrinked

 

 

got the throttle and choke cables hooked up

started on the hood, this is going to take a long time to get right.  my buddy tig'd the holes closed (there were 4 or 5 where a  PO mounted lights and about 5 on the bottom of the hood for some unknown reason).

the satisfaction of preserving the original, along with the learning experience gained thru the restoration outweighs the benefits of buying a nicer one (if I could even find one)

my buddy turned out another part for me, a delrin steering cap.  needed something to break up the red of the wheel.

 

 

added hardware to fill the holes left behind for the steering arm mount and greased the steering gears w/ mobil 1 synthetic grease
