dieselhorse 0 #1 Posted July 10, 2009 Boss brought in the horse he got along with a cub cadet he wanted. it has sat in a hedgerow for almost 30 years so its a rust bucket to say the least, model is a 604 round hood, hood is solid at the nose, but paper thin along the sides back by the steering column, shifter handle is busted/rusted off, trans is froze, engine is stuck, tires are shot. The fender pan is rusted into two pieces, the fenders are solid, as is the seat The mower deck has two big holes in the middle, but the rest is solid so I might be able to save it. Engine is the original recoil start Tecmuseh, not sure whether to save it or not. She has the slot hitch on her as well. Shame she got forgotten about in the hedge row for so long. The tread on the tires is barely worn. I have to move her around with the fork lift at work since she wont roll. Gonna try and break her down into parts and sub assemblies to bring home. I have access to better tools at work. I will try and get pics of the poor old girl tomorrow. Hopefully like a Phoenix she will rise from the ashes to run again. I know for sure she is gonna need a new hood, shifter handle with boot, tires and some engine work or a fresh engine. Anybody have any ideas to save the hood, the bottom edge trim is basicly gone, and the metal around the curved portion near the rear is very thin, I cant push my finger or a screwdriver thru it, but it flexes and you hear that rust crinkling sound. If it could be stablized and made a bit more solid, i think the hood could be saved. Mike
